IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please read the revised Club Rules on page 2.
NOMINATIONS & FEES: This event is open to all ATHRA members & Day Members, but
everyone must comply with the BSTHRC Rules and Protocols on page 2. If you wish
to nominate, please copy & paste the nomination below into a reply email,
complete your details & emergency contact’s name and phone number, and
email to alg_salter@bigpond.com . Day Members must speak with Alan Salter
before registering online.

2025. , I understand that I must not
attend this event if either my horse or I become unwell or infectious. My
emergency contact is (name and phone number).

Ride
Description
VENUE: Meeting at 99 Birch’s Creek Road, Kingston. Ignore the “No Through Road” sign because the
venue is at the end of the road. Go past
the “For Sale’ sign into paddock on left. Floats only. Bryan Mc Kimmie is
kindly hosting this ride at his family’s home.
Unfortunately, the toilet in the house is not available for our use, so
you will have to rough it. Town water on
tap to wash and water horses.
RIDE: 75% of this ride is on open roadsides, mainly gravel, in
most places riders can get off the road onto grass verges. Lunch will be at the Kingston Hotel where the
meal is recommended by all past attendees.
Please arrive as early
as you can because the ride out will be at 10.00 am sharp. Horseless
Muster just prior to ride out. LUNCH is at the Kingston Pub,
don’t forget to bring your money or card.
Rules
of the Ballarat Social Trail Horse Riders Club
Revised 21st February 2024.
1.
Members must become familiar and comply with
the ATHRA
Code of Conduct & these BSTHRC Rules.
2.
No person shall attend a Club ride or other
event if they are experiencing a temperature, cold or flu-like symptoms; or
symptoms of any other illness which may be passed on to others.
3.
The Club will ensure compliance with
government-imposed restrictions and rules relating to all issues.
4. All
intending riders at any BSTHRC ride or event must email their nomination in the
prescribed form to alg_salter@bigpond.com , or
other nominated email address.
5.
Nominations must include the nominees name
and mobile, their Emergency Contact’s name and mobile, and a statement similar
in meaning to the example following – “I (name and mobile No) wish to
attend (name the event). I understand that I must not attend this event
if either my horse or I become unwell or infectious. My emergency contact
is (name and phone number)”.
6.
If subsequent to nominating for a ride or
event, a nominee is exposed to Covid-19, becomes unwell with cold or flu-like
symptoms, or other symptoms of illness as
referred to in Rule 2, they must Not attend a Club ride or event.
7.
The Trail Boss or a member of the BSTHRC
Committee may at their discretion, exclude a rider if they believe on
reasonable grounds there is a risk that rider may transmit an illness to
others. That rider shall leave the venue
immediately.
8.
Members are
required to sign the Ride Attendance Register upon arrival at a ride or event
venue.
9.
Applicable ride fees must be paid on arrival.
10.
All attendees at BSTHRC rides or events
should be mindful of social distancing and avoid unnecessary close contact and
crowded situations.
11.
All attendees must observe recognized
biosecurity measures for both humans and horses.
12.
A lame or sick horse must not be brought to
Club rides or events. If you suspect
your horse is unwell, DO NOT bring it to a ride. Members should remain mindful of horse health
and welfare issues, and apply appropriate biosecurity strategies at all times.
13.
The Trail Boss shall have the discretion to
exclude a horse they believe is not fit for the intended ride, or is unwell or
suffering any injury.
14.
BSTHRC strongly recommends that all riders
have Ambulance Cover. An
ambulance will be called if deemed appropriate by the Trail Boss, the
injured rider being responsible for all expenses.
15.
The BSTHRC recommends that all riders wear an
approved riding helmet. Riders under 18
years, and riders registered as a Junior Member must wear an approved riding
helmet.
16.
Riders under 16 years must be accompanied
& supervised by their parent or guardian, or an adult member nominated in
writing by their parent or guardian.
17.
All riders must carry a lead rope and halter
on all trail rides.
18.
Horses known to kick must wear a red ribbon
in their tail.
19.
All riders must advise the Trail Boss of any
pre-existing medical condition prior to the commencement of a ride. They should also carry any appropriate
medication, including EpiPen if applicable.
20.
Horses must be appropriately fit and
conditioned for the intended ride, including adequately conditioned feet, boots
and/or shoes.
21.
Stallions may only be used after prior
approval from the Committee; and must display a blue ribbon on their head gear
and tail.
22.
Breast plates and cruppers are recommended.
23.
Unless otherwise stated, DOGS are not
permitted at rides or events. Dogs are not permitted to accompany a ride.
24. All riders
must adhere to these Rules and the ATHRA Code of Conduct. Rider participation signifies their
understanding and acknowledgement of these Rules and the Code of Conduct, and
their willingness to comply.

Pagans Flat has fast become a regular ride on our RRTHRC
calendar, the camping is terrific (perched beside the mighty Clarence River).
The riding is through the surrounding hills and farmland and even a beautiful
sandy track to some river rapids.
Attending RRTHRC Rides:
1. MARK YOURSELF AS “GOING”
on the Facebook Event OR email the club.
2. WE CHECK YOUR DETAILS – we check we have all your details.
Memberships verified, and we need to collect the PIC (Property Identity Code)
and an emergency contact (name, relationship, and mobile number).
3. CONFIRMATION – attending riders are all added to the
Messenger Group Chat (or emailed details if not on FB). Full ride details and
address are provided there.
Venue: Most of our members will remember Pagans Flat from last
year, it has fast become a popular ride with our members. The tracks are loverly,
open and cleared, there is a small hill climb on 1 of the rides.
We have booked the camping from the Friday afternoon (camping
only, no riding), if anyone would like to go on the Friday, please let us
know.
Dogs: The
club is trialling dogs attending camps. All dogs must be preapproved before
attending (so you must let us know prior to attending, if you arrive with a
dog/s without prior approval, you will be asked to leave). All owners of dogs
must sign and abide by the ‘Code of Conduct’, if this is not followed, you may
be asked to remove your dog from camp, repeated breaches may result in a ban of
offending dogs. Dogs attending each month will also be dependant on the
host/property owner’s approval.
Dogs can attend this ride: No.
Camping Cost:
$10 per person, per night. This is payable in cash to a
committee member upon arrival.
Terrain:
Mostly easy riding on cleared tracks – Recommend horses be shod/booted.
There is at least one stretch up a hill that is rocky in parts.
Horses & Riders should be fit and prepared for creek
crossings, muddy spots, hills and slopes, narrow steep cuttings and trails, and
open glorious pastures with horses travelling at different gaits.
Rides:

SATURDAY
– Pre ride chat at 3pm, this should be horseless.
3:15pm ride out time for 2 – 2.5 hrs.
·
SUNDAY
– Pre ride chat at 9am, this should be horseless. 9:15am ride out time
for 2.5 – 3 hrs, Including morning tea break.
What to bring:

BYO
all the usuals – Water for yourselves / horse yards / Camping gear for
yourself.
STRICT CUT OFF – You must confirm your
attendance before 5pm on Wednesday 12th February.
