Getting to Crooked Creek:
From South Coast Highway at Bow Bridge, turn north into Valley of the Giants Road and go 5km, turn right into Vigus Road and go 200m, turn left and stay on Vigus Road for 750m. Brenda’s driveway is on the left.
EOI/ Bags a bed:
There are beds available for early RSVPs who are staying two nights. For those who need a bed, could you please budget to pay $40 when you RSVP. Others stay with no charge.
You have the option to arrive at Crooked Creek on either Friday 10 November (afternoon) or Saturday 11 November.
There will be a trail ride on Saturday morning starting at 10am. The ride will be split into a training ride (8km) and a normal ride (20km).
Please do not come on the training ride unless you are happy to stop and start as required. Boots or shoes are recommended for the rides as there is quite a bit of gravel.
On Sunday there will be either a play day or mini trail ride or trip to Parry’s Beach starting at 9am. We’ll finish up by lunchtime.
You are welcome to come for the whole weekend, or part of it.
Ride description from Brenda Berry:
It’ll be a 20km ride on a mix of track conditions ie gravel and firm sand. Recommend shoes or boots as some of the gravel is stony and not ideal for soft footed horses. There will be an option of an early turn around point for those who may only be interested in a 8 km ride. It’s all on back roads or parks tracks so I can drive for a lunch stop anywhere that suits all. The track will take you through Tingle trees, karri bush to some flatter scrub country. Still very beautiful and peaceful apart from the noisy native birds. There are some hills but mostly gently sloping terrain.
On the Sunday we’ll do a short trail on another back road, probably coming back through the blue gums next door. Or we’ll go to Peaceful Bay Beach.
As above, some beds available. Other people may like to bring a mattress to doss down on the floor, pitch a tent or sleep in floats.
When we know who is coming we’ll coordinate shared meals… Bring a plate for Friday night and BBQ on Saturday night. BYO breakfast and lunch.
Horses will be in a large shared paddock. If you need to yard your horse separately, BYO yards.
There are conditions to attending any ANTs event, so please READ CAREFULLY !!!
ALL attendees MUST adhere to the Government COVID19 rules, i.e. social distancing, hand hygiene, etc, at all times. It is your responsibility to protect yourself and to protect those around you. This might include not touching other people’s gear, vehicles or their horses.
We also need to be respectful of how other people might be feeling, which might be different to how you are feeling.
If you are unwell, have cold or flu-like symptoms, DO NOT COME !!!
If you have RSVPd and then become unwell, please ring the organiser so that they know not to wait for you on the day.
Attendee numbers may need to be limited – this will be advertised.
Day Membership is available for non-ANTs members or for visiting ATHRA members.
Contact the Ride Coordinator to RSVP & discuss by the advertised date. Pay the Day Membership via the Gameday platform (refer to our website for details). Cost includes $20 to ATHRA and $10 to ANTs. If your RSVP has been accepted, you can pay up until the Friday before the event.
Please note there are no refunds on Day Memberships, so please choose your event dates carefully.
ANTs welcomes new riders. However, in the safety of our club, we ask that you attend at least one of our training days before registering for a trail ride. This is so we can meet you and your horse to assess your readiness to safely participate in a group trail ride. (NB: some trail rides will have both a regular and a training ride at the same event – check with the organiser).
ALL RIDERS MUST be happy to ride/train under the ATHRA Code of Conduct http://www.athra.com.au/2014…/athra-code-of-conduct.html
