This ride will be along dirt roads within the picturesque Toolangi State
Forest. It is well sheltered from the sun under the canopy of soaring Mountain
Ash trees and is therefore pleasant on a warm day. If the weather forecast is
for above 35 degrees, the ride will be postponed due to the possible fire risk.
Horseless
muster: 9.15am Ride
out: 9.30am
Pace: Walking/some trotting if safe to do
so or the opportunity arises.
Terrain: Undulating dirt roads and tracks. Barefoot
horses: Boots recommended at riders’ discretion. There are some grassy verges
to move off the road in some places.
Duration: approx..
2.5 hours (approx. 15kms).
Location: Monda Road Toolangi which is off Myers
Creek Road.
Ride
level: This ride is classified as ‘Novice’ –
reasonably confident riding a horse at a walk, a rising trot, and learning
to canter.
Float Parking: There is room for
approx. 10 floats to park along Monda Road at the Monda Carpark which is
approx.. 3.5kms into the forest. Look out for club sign. Therefore this ride is
limited to 10 riders. Please float share if possible. Priority given to financial club members.
What to bring: Halter and lead rope
whilst attending a sanctioned ride. There is no water on this ride so please
bring water and a bucket for your horse after the ride. If you wish to stay for
lunch afterwards, bring a chair and your refreshments.
