Ride to raise money for Domestic Violence Charities
In 2024 the event organiser, Siobhan McIlveen, lost an old and very dear friend who was a victim of domestic violence .
Since then, there has been many similar stories in the news about countless other women who are struggling with violence in their lives every day. But there are also many women’s stories that don’t make the headlines.
Seeing how prevalent this issue is, Siobhan wanted to help make a positive difference. As she and her friend both grew up riding horses together, she was inspired to organise a fundraising horse ride to raise funds that could go to grass-roots community organisations. Helping women and children impacted by domestic & family violence, to provide practical aid where it’s most needed.
‘Riding free from DV’ will be held on Sunday 23rd August 2026 in beautiful Megalong Valley and is open to both riders and walkers. Everyone is invited to participate, have fun, raise awareness and connect with others .
Horses can be liberating and empowering so being with them often helps with feelings of connection and trust. The event aims to help heal and inspire conversations around domestic violence and ways to address this issue.
Riders, walkers and support crew are invited to share the main fundraiser page hosted on Chuffed here
