The WA Horse Trekkers Club runs non-competitive trail rides and is open to both horse riders and harness drivers.
We invite any breed of horse that is sound and sensible and any saddle or gear that fits within the Club Rules, and that you find safe and comfortable. At present the club has over 50 financial members from areas all over WA.
Treks are generally run from a private property or a place where vehicles and floats are secure, in different locations in the Perth region and southwest of WA. Trails are through tracks in the bush, through private property or along quiet back roads. We have two groups to choose from – the “Steady Eddies”, for first timers and those who prefer a slower pace (mostly walking and trotting); and the “Nimble Neddies”, who do longer distances at a faster pace (walk, trot, canter). Participants spread out along the trail in pairs or small groups, and the rides are very social, with lots of chat and laughter to be heard.
Evenings are usually spent around the campfire (in season), camp cooking, telling yarns and relaxing.
The club was formed in 1990/91, following the Mundaring to Kalgoorlie Pipeline Trek in 1988. It was incorporated in May 1992.
