The Northern Trail Horse Riders Club is a 20 member or so strong club that meets monthly on a Saturday and Sunday as many of our members have to travel and we like to make a “weekend” of it. We camp out at the ride location and are generally self-sufficient (i.e. toilets, water, yards). Camp fees sometimes apply.
We usually have between 6 to 12 riders of all ages at our rides. Riders (and their horses) need to be able to walk, trot and canter confidently in all terrains. A packed lunch is required on most rides, and riders should carry a drink. Helmets are recommended and smooth soled, heeled riding boots essential.
Our rides are organised by our members and held approximately monthly across a region ranging from Burra to Quorn. The terrain we cover is varied but often rough and steep, and horse shoes or boots may be recommended for stony rides.
There are many breeds of horses in the club from Coffin Bay ponies to Quarter Horses and saddles vary from English to Western, with comfort is a must for both horse and rider.
New members need to be approved and the ATHRA and club fee paid at least a week before the first ride, so please make contact early if you’d like to join us.
